Renewal of Expiring Capital Project Levy Authorization for Technology
The board of Special School District No. 6 (South St. Paul Public Schools) has proposed a capital project levy authorization of 3.7470921% times the net tax capacity of the school district. This authorization would renew the school district's existing authorization as approved in 2009 which is scheduled to expire after taxes payable in 2019.
The proposed new authorization will raise approximately $676,095 for taxes payable in 2020, the first year it is to be levied, and would be applicable for ten years. The estimated total cost of the projects to be funded over that time period is approximately $6,760,950.
The money raised by the proposed authorization will be used to provide funds for the following: the purchase and installation of software and technology equipment and the support and maintenance of technology, with that technology concentrated in the areas of student computing and technology enhanced classrooms.
