Race Results:   President | US Senate | Congressional District | Legislative District | Precincts Reporting

  • The election results reported on this site are the results reported directly to the Office of the Secretary of State by the county auditor of each county.

  • Since media or other persons can also obtain vote totals directly from precinct election judges before those election results are reported to the auditor, the totals reported for a candidate by television, radio, or newspaper media may differ from the results reported on this site during the course of Election Night.

  • The county canvassing board is required by state law to meet at the county auditor's office on or before November 14, 2000 to publicly canvass (count) the general election returns. The county auditor then transmits a copy of the county canvassing board report to the Secretary of State.

  • On November 21, 2000, the State Canvassing Board will meet to canvass the votes for candidates for federal and state offices. The Secretary of State will issue a certificate of election to the individuals who are elected to these offices.

  • If a recount occurs, a Recount Official will be appointed to conduct the recount. The State Canvassing Board will then reconvene to receive the report of the Recount Official, and to resolve any remaining disputes about counting ballots for a candidate. The final vote total from the recount may be different than the vote originally counted at the Canvassing Board. If so, the recounted total, as approved by the Canvassing Board, becomes the official election result.
